We send girls to camp!

Camping

Our National Project

Each year, T.T.T. sends hundreds of girls who have finished the fourth grade to summer camp. The girls attend accredited, T.T.T.-approved camps that are owned and operated by qualified organizations, such as the YMCA, Girl Scouts, 4-H and church groups. Every camp must meet the standards set by the American Camping Association for quality in leadership, programming, health and safety.

T.T.T. members have found that a week at summer camp can have a most profound impact on a growing child. Camp programs intensify interpersonal relationships and the camp atmosphere fosters love, concern and respect for one another. This environment gives each girl an opportunity to learn of her own worth, develop initiative, learn self-expression and live in harmony with others.

The T.T.T. experience involves more than a week at camp. Members take the girls shopping for the clothes they’ll need at camp, packing the supplies and equipment they might use, in addition to paying all fees. The girls and women interact on other occasions too. Chapters try to stay in touch with the campers, remembering them on their birthdays and at holidays. Sometimes campers receive scholarships to help with higher education. And, happily, some campers grow up to be T.T.T. members.
